Masako, a widow, runs the local hot spring inn, Aku no Yu, all by herself. Her niece, Ritsuko, has been helping out at the inn since graduating from junior college in Tokyo. Her husband, Ikuo, died in an accident and was condemned to hell for adultery with Ritsuko, and his ghost roams the earth. One day, Kurio, who had been laid off and decided to commit suicide, arrives at the inn. Surprisingly, he looks exactly like Ikuo...

Taeko, a widow, runs a hot spring inn on her own and raises her daughter, Shigemi. Genjiro, a tough chef, and Miki, a former delinquent, work at the inn. The two have had a long-standing physical relationship. One day, Okada, the managing director of a trading company, arrives at the inn. The night before, Taeko got drunk and had sex with him. Okada aggressively approached her, saying he was divorcing his wife and asking if she wanted to join him. Taeko took a bath to wash away the dirt from Okada's embrace, and Genjiro asked her to use his savings to pay off her debt. However, Taeko could not accept the money. Shigemi, who was listening to the conversation outside, discovered that she was not her real daughter...
