Darby Lloyd Rains hailed from a middle-class theatrical family -- her song and dance man father appeared regularly in Broadway musical stage productions -- and started her career in show business as a nightclub singer. Darby made the leap into explicit hardcore movies in the early 1970's as a means of earning extra money in order to support her singing career. Rains retired from the adult film industry in the late 1970's and moved to the West Coast where she started her own green cleaning company.
